Zonta Club of Beirut celebrated its Annual Gala Dinner on the 29th of April 2017 under the Patronage and presence of the Minister for Women Affairs in Lebanon who supported us and the attendance of 530 persons. The cause for this event was Breast Reconstruction after Mastectomy with a logo “Closing the Loop”. The proceeds of the event will go to reconstruction surgery for 10 or more ladies who had mastectomy after Breast Cancer. It’s worth to mention the support of Banks and Companies related to the subject of the event which was a great success due to the hard work of the president and members of Zonta club Beirut.

Zonta Club of  Beirut  Project

‘Ray of Light’ a Pioneer Project to help future moms in Prisons:
‘Ray of Light’ is a Pioneer Project launched by Zonta Club of Beirut, to offer future moms in prison: newborn clothes, maternity clothes & related utilities, with the fund of Bank Audi Lebanon, on the occasion of Mother’s Day in Lebanon: March 21, 2015 under the patronage of the General manager of the Internal Security Forces in Lebanon.

The aim of this project is to help ease the pain of pregnant women in the 4 prisons for women in Lebanon (Baabda, Verdun, Zahleh & Tripoli) and bring back a smile on their faces and also to help the new mothers who recently gave birth to babies in prison, by offering them baby and maternity clothes and related utilities and new-born needs.

The event had a large coverage by the local media and was broadcasted in the news of most LebaneseTV stations.

As part of the „Zonta Say No“ Campaign, Zonta Club of Nicosia created a poster which was placed (and still is) behind doors of women’s restrooms. The reason we chose to place them there is because women go to toilets ALONE, and not escorted by any man who could possibly be abusing them. Posters have so far been placed in restaurants, hairdressing salons, public restrooms and various large companies, but we continually place them in new locations.
The poster communicates the fact that abused women can and should seek help and it provides a telephone number of the association in Cyprus that deals with victims of domestic violence and it was accompanied by a letter that provided information on Zonta International and the specific campaign. The initiative has been well accepted by the owners of these establishments and has increased awareness of Zonta International.
