Materials for 2024 Young Women in Public Affairs Award now available

Recognizing young women for their commitment to volunteerism, volunteer leadership achievements and dedication to empowering women worldwide.

Though about 40 percent of the world’s workforce is women, according to data from the Inter-Parliamentary Union, only 24.9% of all national parliamentarians were female as of 1 August 2020. Because Zonta International believes that young women are the key to women’s advancement in the field of public service, it offers the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award, which recognizes young women, ages 16-19, for demonstrating leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes, and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life.

The Zonta “Youth Award” is aimed at all young women between the ages of 16 and 19. Outstanding social engagement is the key to promoting Zonta International. The 2024 call is available and applications will be accepted until March 2024. Please ask your local Zonta Club for the exact closing date.

1 application, 2 options

The program operates at the Zonta club and  district/international levels. Zonta clubs provide awards for club recipients. All young women who win a club award will automatically apply for the district/international award. Zonta International offers 37 international awards of US$5,000.

NOTE: Applications may be submitted to a Zonta club or district in the language(s) accepted by the club or district; however, the district is responsible for submitting the successful district application and all accompanying materials in English to Zonta International.

Young women often do a lot more than they realize and do not always talk about. The District 14 winner of 2019, Svea Victoria, would like to use a short video to encourage all girls and explain why they should apply.
